Meet David Morley

I am a relative newcomer to watercolours having returned to my love of painting after many years of rugby and racing up and down wet Scottish hills (and working.)
The Scottish hills remain but the resilience to play rugby has long since past. I have thus turned to painting as a more tranquil pastime.

Martyn on Tryfan
I started by illustrating my hill walking log with Wainwright type ink drawings, moving on to watercolours depicting mountain scenes and other landscapes. I have even tried the odd portrait.

Now semi-retired, I am the proud owner of a shed where I go and create. I am exploring the medium: attempting to allow the colours to flow and mingle whilst keeping them vibrant. . . avoiding the dreaded "mud".

The subjects covered reflect my interest in Hill Walking and my home county of Suffolk. Light, rock and water are themes which I'm currently exploring, although I am also open to suggestions.

Unless sold pictures in the Gallery are available for purchase . . . . . I could do with some more paints.
